I painted one of my favorite plants in celebration of the holiday season. Honestly, when I was halfway through it, I thought of scrapping the piece because it wasn’t turning out the way that I planned it to. It frustrated me so much. Fortunately, after a night’s, rest it kind of grew on me and I decided to finish it.
I think that most of our experiences in life are like that. At first glance, it seems so bad, ugly and frustrating but after a while we try to adapt and adjust because that’s just how life is. Most of the time we don’t have control at what it throws at us. I become more aware of these things when I’m doing a watercolor piece.
Most people say that they don’t like to use watercolors because it is hard to control. Yes, watercolor is hard to control. At times, it seems like it has a mind of its own. But you need to work with it by adapting and adjusting. Just like life. This is one of the many reasons why I love watercolor folks.
I hope you like this piece as much as I do. Happy Holidays Everyone!
A modern city attic and a rustic, nature-loving feeling have been brought together perfectly, I think. This apartment is on the same neighborhood I used to live in when I lived in Sweden, it makes me so nostalgic!
